Things to Know About Kabiru Tanimu Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, PDP Consensus Candidate for Chairman
Turaki is a Muslim and a member of the Hausa-Fulani ethnic group from Kebbi State, also a prominent Nigerian lawyer, politician, and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). He was born on April 3, 1957, in Nasarawa, Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.
Legal Career
Turaki is a highly experienced legal practitioner specializing in constitutional law, election petition litigations, commercial arbitration, international criminal law, intellectual property, oil and gas, and mergers and acquisitions. He serves as a retained solicitor and adviser to Nigerian government ministries, blue-chip companies, embassies, banks, and financial institutions.
Political Career
A key figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Nigeria, Turaki served as Nigeria's Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs from 2013 to 2015, and as Supervising Minister of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity from 2014 to 2015. He currently chairs the PDP Former Ministers' Forum and is seen as a potential leader in the party's renewal efforts.
Education
Turaki attended Nasarawa Primary School, Barewa College Zaria, and the College of Arts and Science, Sokoto. He earned his law degree from the University of Jos and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1986.
