EXTRA: INEC Rejects Abdulrahman Mohammed, Affirms Umar Damagum as Legitimate PDP Chairman


....Deploys Officers to Monitor, Observe Ekiti Ongoing Governorship Primaries.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has upheld Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum as the constitutionally recognized National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), thereby dismissing the purported elevation of Abdulrahman Mohammed, as acting national chairman by group loyal to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

INEC dispatched monitoring teams to monitor and observe the ongoing PDP’s governorship primaries in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

INEC, in a formal acknowledgment and recognition of the Damagum-led NWC, which commands the support of 14 out of 17 members, responded to a correspondence by Damagum and deployed observers and election monitors for the PDP Primary.
