Breaking: Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke Resigns From PDP, Cites Party Leadership Crisis

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has resigned his membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), ending his long-standing affiliation with the opposition party. According to documents seen by Lagos Reporters, the governor’s resignation took effect on November 4, 2025, and was formally communicated through a letter addressed to the PDP Ward 2 Chairman, Sagba Abogunde, in Ede North Local Government Area.

In the letter personally signed by him, Governor Adeleke attributed his exit to internal issues plaguing the party’s national leadership.
“Due to the current crisis within the national leadership of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the PDP with immediate effect,” he wrote.

The governor expressed gratitude to the PDP for its role in his political ascent, acknowledging the platform through which he contested and won key offices.
“I thank the People's Democratic Party for the opportunities given to me for my elections as a Senator (Represented Osun West) and as Governor of Osun State under the People's Democratic Party,” the statement continued.

Adeleke’s departure marks one of the most significant political shakeups in Osun in recent years, raising questions about his next political move and the future of the PDP in the state. Party stakeholders are already considering the implications for upcoming electoral cycles, as the governor’s influence extends across local and grassroots structures.
