SAGAMU COURT ADJOURNS TRIAL OF ANTHONY JOSHUA'S DRIVER
A Magistrate Court in Sagamu, Ogun State, has adjourned the trial of Adeniyi Kayode, the driver involved in the accident that killed Anthony Joshua’s personal trainer, Latif Ayodele, and strength and conditioning coach, Sina Ghami, to February 25, 2026.
Kayode, 46, was arraigned on January 2 before Magistrate Olufunilayo Somefun on four counts, including dangerous and reckless driving causing death, driving without due care resulting in bodily harm and property damage, and driving without a valid national driver’s licence, under the Federal Highway Act.
At the hearing on January 20, the prosecution sought an adjournment to forward the case file to the Ogun State Attorney General through the Department of Public Prosecution for legal advice. Despite opposition from the defence, the court granted the request and admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of ₦5 million with two sureties.
The fatal crash occurred on December 29, 2025, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway when a Lexus SUV collided with a stationary truck. Ayodele and Ghami died in the incident, while Joshua sustained minor injuries. Their remains were later buried in the United Kingdom following funeral prayers in London.
