Lagos trains 1,000 security personnel in 10-month capacity drive
The Lagos State Security Trust Fund plans to train 1,000 personnel from the police and other security agencies to enhance safety across the state.
The Executive Secretary of LSSTF, Ayodele Ogunsan, disclosed this on Wednesday at the opening ceremony of the training programme held in the Gbagada area of the state.
Themed “Enhancing Professional Capacity, Ethical Standards and Inter-Agency Collaboration for Effective Security Operations”, the training drew participants from the police, Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigeria Immigration Service, and Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Agency, among others.
Speaking at the event, Ogunsan noted that the training was crucial in addressing the growing population of the state and the increasing complexity of managing security.
He stressed that the two-day training would be replicated over a period of 10 months, with a target of training 1,000 security personnel.
He said, “It is in recognition of this reality that the Fund has designed this two-day training programme. Over the course of the next ten months, the Fund will be training a total of 1,000 security personnel drawn from the police and other security agencies in Lagos State.
“The objective is to build a pool of officers who are better equipped to respond to emerging security challenges, while strengthening co-operation among the different agencies responsible for maintaining safety and order in our communities.
