The African Democratic Congress has unveiled its timetable for the 2026 primary elections, detailing key stages such as nomination, screening, appeals, and voting across all elective offices.
In a statement on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said nomination forms will be available from May 5 to May 10, 2026, with submissions scheduled for May 11 to May 13. Screening of aspirants will follow on May 14 and 15, while results will be released on May 17.
Appeals are set for May 18 and 19, with the final list of cleared candidates to be published on May 20. Primary elections will begin on May 21, starting with State Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate contests at the ward level. Governorship primaries will hold on May 22, and the presidential primary is fixed for May 25.
The process will conclude with a National Executive Committee meeting on May 26 and a Special National Convention on May 27 for final ratifications.
The party also announced nomination fees: ₦100 million for presidential aspirants, ₦50 million for governorship, ₦20 million for Senate, ₦10 million for House of Representatives, and ₦3 million for State Assembly seats.
ADC noted that it is now among the parties setting high nomination costs, similar to the ruling All Progressives Congress. However, it introduced discounts to boost participation—50% for youths and 25% for women and persons with disabilities.
Members and aspirants were urged to comply strictly with the timetable, as the party continues to navigate internal disputes following a Supreme Court ruling that reinstated a faction led by former Senate President David Mark.
