2027: 'No One Has Emerged ADC Governorship Candidate Yet' — Ibadan Less City (ANFANI FOR ALL) Group Warns, Backs Lukman Ilaka for Governor

The five Local Government Areas that make up the Ibadan Less City axis — Oluyole, Ona-Ara, Egbeda, Lagelu, and Akinyele — on Sunday reaffirmed their support for the gubernatorial aspiration of Chief Lukman Oyebisi Ilaka under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), insisting that no individual should yet parade himself as the party's governorship candidate.

The position was made known during the relaunch of the "Anfani For All" movement, a socio-political platform established in support of Chief Lukman Ilaka, held on June 21, 2026, at Elekuro High School, Owode, Ona-Ara Local Government Area, Ibadan.

Speaking at the gathering, members of the movement cautioned against what they described as premature claims of victory by any aspirant, stressing that the party's processes and relevant authorities should be allowed to conclude all necessary procedures before anyone assumes the status of candidate.

The group maintained that it is awaiting official communication from the national leadership of the ADC and the subsequent notification of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding the authentic governorship candidate of the party in Oyo State.

The stakeholders further insisted that Chief Lukman Oyebisi Ilaka emerged victorious in the governorship primary election conducted by the party, alleging that the results announced from the 11 Local Government Areas in Ibadan and two Local Government Areas in Ibarapa were fake and did not reflect the true outcome of the exercise. They maintained that the authentic result of the primary is yet to be officially recognized by the party's national leadership and communicated to INEC. The group therefore urged party members and supporters to remain calm and await the official position of the ADC National Working Committee and the notification of INEC on the party's authentic governorship candidate.
Representatives from the five Local Government Areas took turns to present reports on activities within their respective councils and highlighted the widespread support enjoyed by Chief Ilaka across the grassroots. They also pointed to his longstanding commitment and numerous contributions to the growth and stability of the ADC in Oyo State and Nigeria at large.

Among the contributions highlighted were his efforts in maintaining peace and unity among party members, sponsorship of ADC membership cards, support for PVC registration drives, grassroots mobilization, party expansion initiatives, and other interventions aimed at strengthening the party's structure across the state.
Speaking on behalf of Chief Lukman Ilaka, Hon. Iyabo Ponle reaffirmed that the former Chief of Staff to Governor Seyi Makinde remains unwavering in his loyalty to the ADC, assuring supporters that Chief Ilaka remains fully committed to the party and its ideals.

She expressed confidence that, with God's grace, Chief Ilaka would eventually emerge as the ADC governorship candidate for the 2027 Oyo State election.

According to her, Chief Ilaka remains focused on building a stronger and more united party rather than engaging in unnecessary controversies, adding that all party members should remain calm and await the final position of the party's national leadership.

In his vote of thanks, one of the key stakeholders of the movement, Hon. Babatunde Fashola, appreciated Chief Lukman Oyebisi Ilaka for his leadership and acknowledged the efforts of managers, coordinators, supporters, and all those contributing morally and financially to the growth of the movement.
He also used the occasion to dispel speculations about the group's political affiliation, declaring that members of Anfani For All remain firmly within the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

"Let me use this opportunity to inform those who sent people to monitor this meeting that we are still members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). We remain committed to the party and to the aspiration of Chief Lukman Oyebisi Ilaka," he said.
According to him, Anfani For All is a movement dedicated to promoting the aspiration of Chief Lukman Ilaka and currently has structures across all 33 Local Government Areas of Oyo State. The stakeholders therefore urged members and supporters to remain united and continue working for the progress of the ADC while awaiting the party's final directive on the governorship ticket.
