2026 Ibadan North East Chairmanship: Ogunremi Abeeb Ademola Formally Joins Race, Rallies Party Support
Alhaji (Hon.) Ogunremi Abeeb Ademola has officially declared his intention to contest for the Chairmanship of Ibadan North East Local Government, formally presenting his letter of intent to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) executives amid growing support from party stakeholders.
During his declaration, Ogunremi paid glowing tribute to the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo, applauding their leadership and commitment to the growth of the party and the development of the local government.
He also commended the PDP Chairman in Ibadan North East, Alhaji Isiaka Fatokun, alongside members of the party executive, before officially submitting his letter of intent.
Recounting his political journey, Ogunremi emphasized his unwavering loyalty to the PDP, noting that he remained steadfast with the party after contesting for the State House of Assembly ticket in both the 2019 and 2023 election cycles. He recalled serving as Director-General for the State House of Assembly campaign and later leading the campaign of Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo as Director-General.
He explained that his visit was not only to formally notify the party leadership of his ambition but also to seek their support and blessings. Ogunremi pledged that, if entrusted with the party's ticket and subsequently elected Chairman, he would consolidate the achievements of the current administration, strengthen the party's structure, and deliver people-oriented, inclusive, and accountable governance.
In separate remarks, the Vice Chairman, Secretary, and Women Leader of the local government praised Ogunremi's steadfast loyalty and dedication to the PDP. They described him as a dependable party man who has consistently prioritized the collective interest of the party above personal ambition, expressing confidence in his competence, experience, and leadership capacity. They also offered prayers for the success of his aspiration.
Speaking on behalf of the party leadership, the PDP Chairman, Alhaji Isiaka Fatokun, lauded Ogunremi's resilience, sacrifice, and years of unwavering commitment to the party. He noted that despite not receiving commensurate political rewards for his contributions, Ogunremi had remained one of the party's strongest pillars in Ibadan North East Local Government.
Fatokun particularly recalled Ogunremi's extraordinary commitment during a previous electioneering period when, despite the painful loss of his wife, he returned to the campaign trail just three days later to continue mobilizing support for the PDP. According to him, the gesture reflected uncommon dedication, selflessness, and loyalty to the party's ideals.
He prayed for divine guidance and favour for Ogunremi, expressing optimism that party leaders and stakeholders would give his aspiration the consideration it deserves.
The declaration was witnessed by a large gathering of party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters, including the Chairman of Ward Chairmen in Ibadan North East Local Government, the Ward 7 Chairman, the Youth Leader, a Zonal Leader, two former councillors, and several other prominent party faithful.
Their presence underscored the growing momentum behind Ogunremi's chairmanship aspiration and reflected the broad support he enjoys across the party as the race for the Ibadan North East Local Government chairmanship gathers pace.
