NCDC CONFIRMS 19,213 MEASLES CASES, 153 DEATHS
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has recorded 19,213 confirmed measles cases out of 26,866 suspected cases across 507 LGAs in all 36 states and the FCT between January and November 2025.
In its latest report, the NCDC said 153 deaths were recorded, with children aged nine to 59 months accounting for about 49 per cent of confirmed cases. About 77 per cent of those infected had not received any dose of the measles vaccine.
Borno, Zamfara, Yobe, Bauchi and Kebbi states accounted for over 66 per cent of suspected cases nationwide. A total of 188 LGAs in 27 states recorded outbreaks, though only Eti-Osa LGA in Lagos had an ongoing outbreak as of November.
The agency noted that no new outbreaks were recorded in November and highlighted ongoing vaccination campaigns aimed at curbing the spread of the disease.
