Bandits Allegedly Issue Threat Letter to Ikoyi-Ile Residents, Announce New Attack Date

Residents of Ikoyi-Ile, a major town in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, have been thrown into fear and uncertainty following an alleged threat by suspected bandits to attack the community, TopTori reports.

The development comes barely days after a deadly incident in the same local government area, where five persons were killed during a violent attack at Oloka village, close to the Old Oyo National Park.

Reports indicate that on Tuesday, suspected gunmen invaded the national park area and opened fire, an incident that has since heightened security concerns among neighbouring communities.

According to information emerging from Ikoyi-Ile, the suspected bandits allegedly issued warnings to residents, threatening to launch an attack on the town on Tuesday, January 20.

The threat was reportedly communicated through two separate notes, believed to have been written by the assailants. The messages, which have circulated widely within the community, have further deepened tension and anxiety, with residents said to be apprehensive about their safety.

As of the time of filing this report, calls are growing for increased security presence in the area to prevent any possible attack and reassure residents.
