Man Arrested in Ogun Over Alleged Murder of Lover, Body Found Buried in Room
A 47-year-old man, Kazeem Adebayo, from Ijebu Igbo in Ogun State, has been arrested over the alleged killing of his partner, Abosede Adesanya, a 30-year-old mother of five.
According to reports, Abosede was in a relationship with Adebayo and was involved in a property transaction alongside her 84-year-old mother, Amoke. The elderly woman had recently sold a piece of land with the intention of purchasing another property where she and her daughter planned to build a two-bedroom flat. Adebayo was said to be among the witnesses who signed the land sale documents and later offered to help them secure a new property.
Investigations revealed that Adebayo allegedly asked Abosede to visit his residence with ₦530,000, part of the proceeds from the land sale. It was during this visit that the incident occurred. Abosede reportedly sustained severe injuries and later died.
Police sources said the suspect allegedly buried Abosede’s body in a shallow grave inside his room. It was further alleged that he used ₦30,000 from the money to settle a personal debt, while concealing the remaining cash in the ceiling of his apartment.
Concern arose when Abosede did not return home that night. Her mother reportedly contacted Adebayo, who denied having seen her. Following this, Amoke reported the matter to the police.
Although Adebayo initially denied any involvement during preliminary investigations, the case was later transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Ijebu Igbo.
A subsequent search of his residence led to the discovery of a shallow grave inside the room, where Abosede’s body was found.
The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue. Authorities say he will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
