E DON HAPPEN: 43-year-old School Staff Arrested For Impregnating Primary Four Pupil

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kwara State Command, have arrested a 43-year-old non-teaching employee of a public primary school in Ilorin for allegedly impregnating a pupil In primary four.
The suspect, identified as Amuda Olubukola, was taken into custody after a complaint was lodged with the command’s Gender Unit, prompting an investigation into the allegations.

Confirming the arrest on Friday, the command’s spokesperson, Micheal Ayoola, said the case came to light after the victim’s family reported the matter to the authorities.

He said preliminary findings indicated that the suspect allegedly exploited the minor over a period before the incident was eventually uncovered.

According to Ayoola, investigators have obtained statements from those involved, while further inquiries are ongoing to establish all the circumstances surrounding the case.

He added that the suspect made certain admissions during questioning, although investigations have yet to be concluded.

Reacting to the incident, the Kwara State Commandant of the NSCDC, Abbas Mohammed, condemned the alleged abuse, describing it as a grave violation of a child’s rights and trust.

He stressed that schools must remain safe environments for children and warned that anyone found culpable of abusing a minor would face the full weight of the law.
The command said the investigation is continuing and assured the public that the matter would be prosecuted in accordance with the law if sufficient evidence is established.
